In the month of Pitru Paksha, the fourth day of Shradh is performed for those dead relatives who died on Chaturthi Tithi. Chaturthi Tithi is also called Chauth Shradh. Pitru Paksha Shradh is also called Parvan Shradh. Performing Shradh in an auspicious time pleases the ancestors.
Auspicious time for Chaturthi Shradh (Shubh Muhurat 21 September 2024)
There are three auspicious times on the day of Chaturthi Shradh. On 21 September 2024, Saturday, the time of Kutup Muhurta is from 11:49 am to 12:38 pm. After this, the time of Rohin Muhurta will start from 12:38 pm and will continue till 1:27 pm. The time of afternoon period will be from 1:27 pm to 3:53 pm.
Rules for the fourth day of Pitru Paksha (Pitru Paksha Rules)
- On the fourth day of Shraadh, perform the worship and rituals related to ancestors in the auspicious time.
- Any person who has Pitra Dosh in his horoscope can perform Pind Daan for the salvation of his ancestors.
- Bathing in the river Ganga during Shraadh is considered very auspicious.
- In the Shraddha of fourth day, cow, crow, dog, ant should be dropped.
- On the occasion of Shraddha, food should be served to Brahmins and donations should be given.
- Gayatri Mantra should be recited at home for the peace of ancestors.
- During this time, the ancestors become angry if the guests who come to the house are insulted.
- Maintain a satvik atmosphere in the house during the month of Shradh.
- Treat mother cow with love and feed her roti.
- During Pitru Paksha, maximum worship should be done.
